Binance digital asset exchange has agreed to help Georgia grow its cryptocurrency industry by launching educational and other blockchain initiatives. The leading coin trading platform has expanded its presence in the region with similar projects in other countries.
Binance and Georgian Tech Agency will jointly develop the country’s crypto-economy
The world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Georgian Agency for Innovation and Technology (GITA). The parties intend to work together in the implementation of educational and community initiatives in the blockchain space and the further development of the country’s crypto industry.
The deal comes after a meeting between trading platform CEO Changpeng Zhao and Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili in November, during which investments were also discussed. The cooperation will cover Binance Academy and Binance Charity projects as well as the organization of local events and hackathons by BNB Chain, a detailed press release.
“Our goals are in line with the goals of the Georgian Agency for Innovation and Technology – together we can create an efficient system in Georgia, through which innovation and technology can be developed,” said the regional director of Binance, Vladimir Smerkis. He also noted:
For a long time, we have seen huge interest in the cryptocurrency market and especially in crypto education in Georgia. I want to separately emphasize that Georgia is one of the most innovative countries in the region.
GITA President Avtandil Kasradze pointed out that the blockchain-related hackathons and workshops to be held in Georgia’s technology parks will facilitate the formation of new startup ideas and the implementation of commercialization-oriented projects.
This isn’t Binance’s first educational initiative in Georgia, a crypto-friendly destination that plans update its digital asset regulations and legalize the industry. In January, the scholarship announced the signing of a memorandum of cooperation with the country’s Business and Technology University (BTU) to provide blockchain education to its students. Binance Academy will provide educational materials on blockchain, Web3, NFTs, and cryptocurrency.
Binance has engaged in similar initiatives in other countries in Eastern Europe, the post-Soviet space and the Caucasus region as part of its goal to expansion of presence In the region. In December, the global crypto company spear a blockchain education program in universities in Kazakhstan and Free to assist Azerbaijan in its efforts to enact crypto regulations.
